I am also grateful for his deep cultural insight when explaining the background and history of Thailand to us in English.

Y-san is a French national who has made Chiang Mai his home for nearly three decades. Over the years, he has carved out a life full of rich experiences, shaped by his adventures not only in Thailand but also in Laos, South America, and beyond.

A close friend of Siddharth, Y-san has also visited India several times, including memorable trips to Pune and a road trip to Goa. Those moments spent together—filled with stories, laughter, and spontaneous plans—remain etched in our memories.

What makes Y-san truly unique is not just the extraordinary life he has led, but the character he has become through it. A natural storyteller with a flair for the unconventional, he’s someone whose anecdotes are as captivating as they are unpredictable.

At the same time, Y-san has a heart so generous that it sometimes overflows. His deep concern for others often leads him to take charge of situations, sometimes to a degree that feels almost overwhelming—but always with the best of intentions. His presence is strong, sincere, and unmistakably kind.

Among the many things he says, one remark that always makes us laugh (and think) is his signature line:
"France is beautiful without French people."
Spoken with a wink and his unmistakable sense of humor, it captures both his wit and the distance he has traveled—physically and emotionally—from the country of his birth.
