Fukuoka City has today announced a new scheme for those coming from overseas who want to start up their businesses in the city.
Office and Residential Rent Subsidy Program for Foreign Startups (FY2016)
Under the program, the city government will lend the financial aid to the rental cost for residence as well as business office, if you are a foreign national and seeks to start a new business in Fukuoka City. Through this program, they are expecting to attract more entrepreneurs from across the world to help the city become a global-oriented place to sustain the growth and development.
It surely is a very attractive scheme for those who already have determined or reasons to establish something, business or living, in Fukuoka; however, as Siddharth says, Fukuoka or Japan as a whole should seriously cultivate a truly global environment. Frankly speaking, in spite of the growing number of tourists, not many people dare to come to Japan unless they have " business." For example, people from various countries and nationalities naturally head to Singapore and Thailand even if they don't have any "business," because countries already have many attractions and benefits that keep inspiring them.
Anyway, I am keen on knowing their intention so I am planning to visit Fukuoka city hall in the coming week to inquire the details, check out this space!
